Apple Crisp
what you need:
(Adjust amounts based on the amount of apples you have)
Topping:
6 tblspns butter, cut into 1/2 inch chunks
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2/3 cup flour
1/2 cup rolled oats or chopped nuts
1/4 tspn salt
1/2 tspn grated nutmeg
1 tspn ground cinnamon
21⁄2 lbs granny smith apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced.
1 tspn ground cinnamon
1 tspn lemon zest
1 tblspn lemon juice
2 tblspns sugar
how you make it:
Work the butter into the rest of the ingredients until you have
a coarse crumbly mixture. Set aside. Toss the apples with the remaining
ingredients listed and put in an oven-proof baking dish. Cover with
the topping and put in the oven for approximately 40 minutes or
until the apples are tender and the topping is browned. Remove from
the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Goes great
with vanilla ice cream.
